We are half-way through the full day of Rally for Lilly. Details of Lilly’s challenge with cancer are outlined within this site. The morning session was attended by tennis die-hards eager to finish the tennis season with an added worthy cause. You Can help as well.
The weather is beautiful and the wind has subsided. Let’s get out this afternoon and evening to play a few games.
A reminder: the courts are fully booked from 6-7:30 pm, but Janet will be on the courts until lights-out at 9:45.
Can’t play? Drop in and say hello. A great evening for a walk. Come and see the action of your friends and community members.
In continued spirit, please consider coming out to the courts on Tuesday October 29th to support Lilly McComb and enjoy some end-of-season tennis. Nets will come down on October 31st.
If you want to ensure you have courts reserved, email Janet Morrison at email@example.com. See details on poster.
Otherwise, just come on out and help fill the courts will rallies and games that day! We hope there will be some classes and other groups coming out to join in as well.
Janet will be there all day and if people wish to continue under the lights and crisp air until later, we will play on!
Members and non-members welcome. Great chance to bring out some friends and family as guests, with the proceeds going toward this great cause. Please feel free to share the poster with anyone you think might enjoy coming out.
Donations will go in empty ball cans strapped to the fence until the end of the day, so if you have any extra ball cans, please bring them along.
Thank you for coming out to participate and for helping to spread the word and tennis joy!Any questions, email Janet at firstname.lastname@example.org.
During the past week, several morning pick-up games have been held at the courts, with up to 8 participants attending.
One might hesitate at leaving for the courts with the early morning temperature hovering around 6C, but the sun is warm and the temperatures rise quickly between 9 and Noon.
There is no better way to spend a morning of tennis than under clear blue and sunny skies, surrounded by the changing fall colours of the trees and the sounds of flocks of geese migrating from the river to newly harvested grain fields.
Soon the season will close. The town has set the date as October 30th!
Between now and then, the weather forecast predicts several sunny days with above average temperatures.
Take advantage of these days, you will be glad that you did.
The Almonte Tennis Club is strong on proactive leadership to encourage youth participation in the game of tennis. ATC provides court access to the Almonte and District High School, and on September 17th, school teacher Ms. Stephanie St. John had 19 of her Phys Ed students active on all three courts.
As an added bonus, Tennis Canada Certified Instructor, Ms. Janet Morrison was out for the occasion, helping to instil good practice and provide a fun-filled atmosphere of learning to the students. What a great way to encourage youth involvement and develop future club members.
Janet Morrison is an ATC Executive Board member and Youth Program Chair. Information on lessons for all age groups can be found on the ATC “Youth Programs” page.
Here’s a hearty “thank-you” to all who participated in the “EXHIBITION-GAMES” at ATC (Sun-8th-Sep), celebrating this year’s 10-week Mixed-Doubles Challenge-Ladder (MD-CL) !
It was fab to have reps from other clubs joining us on this special occasion——un grand merci, aussi, aux …
• ATC members who contributed oh-so-delish“snickie-snackies” (including Doug, although unable attend)
• Terry & her Social Committee, who created a welcome “oasis” where we were well-hydrated and well-covered
• Our awesome “Court Supervisors”——Janet-M and Sandy-C-S——(plus added help from Carolyn-K), who rose to the challenge of figuring-out the Team-Scores—h!-h!!
• Our on-the-spot photogs who recorded many shots of the group in action … Al, Bill, Bozena, Carolyn, Cecilia, Dave, Deborah, Denyse, Derek, Elaine, Jacques, Janet-F, Janet-M, June, Melissa, Paul, Rob, Sandy, Terry, Tom.
May I also congratulate those who were “Regular-Players”, “Spare-Players” and “Supporters-in-the-Wings” for the MD-CL- 2019——this all contributed to the smooth running of this very popular activity, which will definitely remain on the list for SUMMER-2020 ! (BTW, you will shortly receive a note regarding the results of everyone’s steadfast efforts in the success of this programme.)
